60TH INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION
The 60th International Art Exhibition runs from Saturday 20 April to Sunday 24 November, 2024 (pre-opening on April 17, 18 and 19), curated by Adriano Pedrosa. “I am honored and humbled by this prestigious appointment, especially as the first Latin American to curate the International Art Exhibition, and in fact the first one based in the Southern Hemisphere”, Pedrosa commented.
Adriano Pedrosa (Brazil) is currently the artistic director of the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand – MASP, where he has curated many exhibitions, including Histories of Dance (2020) and Brazilian Histories (2022). He has recently been appointed the 2023 recipient of the Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence, that was presented to him by the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, New York.

60. ESPOSIZIONE INTERNAZIONALE D’ARTE
La 60. Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte, a cura di Adriano Pedrosa, si terrà da sabato 20 aprile a domenica 24 novembre 2024 (pre-apertura 17, 18, 19 aprile). “Sono onorato e riconoscente - ha dichiarato Pedrosa - per questo prestigioso incarico, soprattutto come primo latino-americano a curare l’Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte della Biennale, e di fatto il primo a risiedere nell'emisfero sud del mondo”.
Dal 2021 La Biennale ha avviato un percorso di rivisitazione di tutte le proprie attività secondo principi consolidati e riconosciuti di sostenibilità ambientale. Anche per il 2024 l’obiettivo è quello di ottenere la certificazione della “neutralità carbonica”, conseguita nel 2023 per tutte le attività programmate dalla Biennale: la 80. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, i Festival di Teatro, Musica e Danza e, in particolare, la 18. Mostra Internazionale di Architettura, che è stata la prima grande Mostra di questa disciplina a sperimentare sul campo un percorso tangibile per il raggiungimento della neutralità carbonica, riflettendo essa stessa sui temi di decolonizzazione e decarbonizzazione.
Adriano Pedrosa (Brasile) è dal 2014 il Direttore Artistico del Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand – MASP, dove ha curato numerose mostre, tra cui Histories of Dance (2020) e Brazilian Histories (2022). È stato premiato con il 2023 Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence, conferitogli dal Central for Curatorial Studies del Bard College di New York. (*)
